Google review request templates for contractors
Short answer
Keep it short, personal and same-day: their first name, what you did, and one link. Below are copy-paste texts for each step and each trade. Send them to every customer, not just the happy ones.
1. The check-in text
Send this when the job closes. It gives an unhappy customer a way to reach you before they reach Google.
Hi [First name], it’s [Your name] from [Company]. Thanks for having us out today. How did everything go?
2. The review request
Send it a few minutes after the check-in, or right after they reply. Same message to everyone.
Thanks again, [First name]. If you have a minute, a quick Google review helps other homeowners find us: [review link]
3. Templates by trade
Mention the result they care about. It reminds them what to write about.

4. The reminder
Send one, three days later, only if they haven’t reviewed. Never more than one.
Hi [First name], just a friendly reminder in case you missed it. Your review really helps a small local business: [review link]. Thank you!
5. Email version
Subject: How did we do, [First name]? Thanks for choosing [Company] for your [job]. If you have a minute, we’d really appreciate a quick Google review: [review link] It takes about 30 seconds and helps your neighbors find a contractor they can trust. [Your name], [Company]

What to keep out of your texts
- No discounts, gifts or entries for leaving a review.
- No “only if you’re happy” or “5 stars please”. Ask for honest feedback.
- No links that send happy customers to Google and unhappy ones to a private form.
- Text only customers who gave you their number for the job, and honor STOP replies right away.
